Yesterday
was definitely a study in contrasts. I attended two different
picnics. One was the birthday party for my student’s niece and
the other was the concert in the park with my realtor.
picnic in the ‘hood vs. picnic in the garden
bbq’ed “wienies”
lavender chicken
Flamin’ Hot potato
chips
basil buttered orzo with feta
macaroni surprise
Caesar salad
with fried ginger
80’s tunes on the
iPod
California Philharmonic
Shasta cola
red wine
cops maintaining
order
legions of teenage Asian
volunteers
in the park
act as ushers
must stake out a spot early
must fork over $600 per table
in the a.m.
(food not included)
guest of honor 2 hrs. late to
her guest of honor
plays violin to a
own party because her
mom
standing ovation
had a hangover
great company
great company
I actually
ended up having a really nice time at both events, even though I was
moaning and groaning about having to attend. I had to leave the
birthday party only a few minutes after the birthday girl arrived, so I missed a lot of the action as well as the carne asada.
But, I got to the concert picnic in plenty of time for the
dulce de leche napolean that was absolutely heavenly so that made up
for it. Yum!
I was exhausted by the time I got home … probably due in part to the
wine, so I went to bed pretty early. I then proceeded to have the
strangest dream. I was getting ready for a doctor’s appointment
and deciding what to wear. Although it was hot I was choosing to
wear long pants because, lo and behold, I had a huge ring of fur around
each ankle. Each ring was about two inches wide and thick with
fur a couple of inches long. It was so gross! I tried to
shave it off, but my skin was coming off with it. So, I decided
to just wear long pants so that I could tuck the fur into my socks.
Okay … try to interpret that one! I actually think it had
something to do with me giggling at Toshi’s caveman/hobbit toes. That’ll teach me to mock someone’s furriness!

This
evening a friend and I tried out a new Indian restaurant near our house. It
was fantastic, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be around
much longer. We were the only customers there. ![]()
After dinner we went to see An Inconvenient Truth. It was an eye-opening film. I recommend that you see it if you have a chance. I
can see why it’s been called “the scariest film of the summer.”
It made me want to move out to the middle of the
countryside and figure out a way to live without producing greenhouse
gases. It also made me question my desire to have children.
So much food for thought …
Saw something interesting at the theater besides the movie too.
A family came in and, of course, sat right in front of us, even though
the theater was nearly empty. After I finished wondering why they
couldn’t have sat themselves anywhere else, I started wondering why
anyone would bring young children to watch two hours of Al Gore.
Before I was even done wondering about that, I saw them take their dog
out of a backpack and sit her on mom’s lap.
Hello? Does the dog really need to see this film? To the
dog’s credit, she was really quiet and well-behaved, but still … come
on, people!
I
hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. As for me, my weekend is
continuing for about three more weeks, as my summer job has ended and I
am on vacation once again. Yay!
Quote of the Day:
“If you look at the ten
hottest years ever measured, they’ve all occurred in the last fourteen
years, and the hottest of all was 2005.”
“Is it possible that we should prepare against other threats besides terrorists?”
~Al Gore, An
Inconvenient Truth
Things I am thankful for today:
2. the diversity in my community because it allows me to experience so many different cultures
3. hair-free ankles

I’m grateful for hair free ankles as well since they are already that nice thick Irish kind you spoke of…that’s bad enough without adding hobbit hair. roflmao.Seriously, okay not serious, but dulce de leche, that stuff is to die for and I will willingly be the sacrifice. I had a really weird dream as well, I dreamt that my girlfriend and her entire family showed up here at our house and I was sitting on the toilet. I was so embarassed. Then when I kicked everyone out of the bathroom I was almost to humiliated to come out. I finally left the bathroom and went in to the kitchen and we had all new wood cabinets that hadn’t been stained or anything. I pretended that it wasn’t a surprise even though it was the first time I’d seen them and couldn’t figure out where the old cabinets were. All the while I’m hugging everyone and acting like this was completely normal. What’s up with that? Oh, I almost forgot, she had short, spiky hair with pink tips. And believe me that will never happen in this lifetime. (analyze me)I think I would rather have a roomful of quiet lapdogs than 1 screaming kid in a movie theater. But then it is really weird to bring your dog to the movies, maybe it’s a talking dog in disguise. Speaking of inappropriate…..I was renting a movie and this guy comes in with his son (about 8 to 10) and they rented The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I’ve never seen it because I’m basically a huge chicken but even I know that a small child shouldn’t see that one. File that under the heading “What were they thinking?”What I’m grateful for today…..YOU.
wow that is different but both great in their own respects!
still gotta see that movie!
I would love to have good indian food nearby! We have a restaurant in Medford, but that’s 30 miles away and they don’t have the greatest word-of-mouth. I had some seriously delish Indian food in Kirkland, WA last year when I was visiting – and some great Thai this year. I think I need to move back to the city for better food choices . I think I need to see that movie – I keep thinking how much hotter each summer seems to be getting, and how that has to be a product of global warming. It’s sickening to think that 110-115 is a NORMAL high temperature in the summers here! About the hair – I also recommend investing in a good shampoo/conditioner. Since you color like I do, you should find one that is sulphate-free. I personally LOVE Pureology’s SuperStraight, but it’s very $pendy. If your sister has her beauticians license, she can get it for you at cost through a distributor, but it’s still very expensive! It smells PHENOMENAL, and feels great in your hair (I only wash every other day when I use it because my hair stays so clean, and it’s super-concentrated so a tiny bit goes a long way). Also, Alterna’s White Truffle line is good and slightly cheaper. Aura makes a decent shampoo, but I think it might have sulphates. wow I sound like a shampoo salesperson LOL…..good luck!

To prepare, cook and/or serve turkey in your dream predicts a long period of prosperity. -To dream of eating turkey means that you need comfort because of a recent episode of embarrassment or emotional hurt. It also warns against making errors in judgement – be very careful
nice i would have loved both picnics…today i tackled insurance for car…title for car…registration for car…license and inspection and found all 3 places in two cities outside of where i am and well did it all….yeah! as for last saturday that was a nightmare…my friend from new york said …god so glad you are okay…the guy could have been a psyco and actually his behavior at the end was too scary and i was glad for my sister #4 (best friend) who came and found me and bailed me out…you never can tell in the end with some people…i never heard from him sense to apologise or anything…obviously something wrong with him….so i am just getting ready in two weeks to work again and meeting up with someone that wanted to date me for some time here in boston…he is in his last year medical school…so who knows…i dont lack for guys who want to date me…just looking for that one that is honest…maybe that is a contradiction…hahahah
LOVE is… as always i still believe in LOVE no matter how hard the road seems at times…
definitly LOVE still is…
