Oh my god … why am I watching this movie?

It is literally painful to watch, and yet I can’t make myself stop.

In other news, my little darlings have been getting into all sorts of trouble.  Case in point … on Friday Erik forgot his cookie in the classroom during lunchtime.  To a seven-year-old child, this apparently is a dire emergency.  One of my smartypants girls decided to come to Erik’s rescue by attempting to pick the lock of the classroom door with, of all things, a wood chip from the playground.   Betcha can’t guess what happened next.  Yep, the wood chip broke inside the lock, and we all ended up being locked out after lunch.  Aren’t kids a hoot?

On Wednesday the WHOLE ENTIRE SCHOOL is going to the L.A. County Fair.  Thankfully, the weather has finally cooled down.  Let’s just say that hundreds of farm animals and hot muggy weather aren’t the best combination.  The kids (and me too!) are bummed that they won’t be able to eat junk food, shop, play games, or go on any rides, but I keep reminding them that it beats staying at school.  I’m going to try to get them to the more exciting animals and maybe the homemaking building.  I love looking at the decorated cakes and the table settings.  If not there, maybe the kids’ science and art exhibition halls.   We’ll see what time and behavior permit.

Quote of the Day:

And in that moment, everything I knew to be true about myself up until
then was gone. I was acting like another woman, yet I was more myself
than ever before.

  1.  I remember what a huge deal Bridges was when it came out and I didn’t care for it, I didn’t like the whole adultry theme. I read the book but I only saw the movie one time, should I give it one more chance? If I could even find it over here.
The idea of picking the lock was brilliant, the bad part was the execution.  How long were you guys locked out? And what was their punishment?
I remember our class field trip to the state fair, can you believe it?  I remember how cool the animals were but how incredibly bored I was looking at the crafts and other exhibits. Now they’re my favorite part and I always make a beeline for them but at age 8…not so much.  I actually entered a piece of embroidery in our county fair about ten years back, it was an awesome experience. My piece won a blue ribbon at the county level and went on to the regional fair where it won another blue ribbon. Then it went onto the state fair where it won a blue ribbon and best of show. So I felt pretty good about my embroidering skills.
Been missing you, glad to see your update!

  2. Oh my gosh! I haven’t seen that movie, but if I did I’d probably cry like a baby. Any romantic movies I watch nowadays, are just really hard for me…I watched “Memoirs of a Geisha” last night and just sobbed at the end…and it was a happy ending! But anyhoo…the tale of your kiddos locking you out of the classroom made me giggle. I had tried to rock one of my little ones to sleep(she’s two) during naptime, but she wasn’t having it at all. Instead, she bit me! It really wasn’t that bad, but she certainly got her point across…hahahaha. The county fair field trip sounds like a lot of fun, too. Hope you have a good time!

  3. Two weeks ago I watched Bridges and that is exactly how I felt, I even emailed a friend saying I couldn’t believe I was watching it, it was a horrible movie, making me cry and yet I could not stop.
